Writing for wellbeing

Achieving a state of flow, where you’re fully immersed in what you’re doing, energised and enjoying yourself, is a really important part of wellbeing. Maybe you achieve it through painting watercolours, running or playing a musical instrument. I’m a big believer that writing for just a few minutes a day can help you get into the flow – the trick is to switch off your inner critic and forget about writing correctly or writing to be read.

Starting on 5th November, I’m running a six week writing for wellbeing series on Instagram (@kate_hulme_). Every Thursday night at 7pm I’ll post a 10-minute exercise to get you in the flow and silence your inner writing critic. Maybe it’ll finally kickstart that novel or poem, maybe you’ll get in the habit of writing for pleasure or maybe it will just help you switch off a bit during what promises to be a bit of a challenging Autumn.
